  • More than 12 million Americans are infected with STD's each year. By some estimates, nearly 25 percent of Americans have an STD.
  • 1 in 4 people have genital herpes.
  • 90% of the population over the age of 12 have type 1 herpes, the common cold sore on your lip. That means that 90% of the population has the ability to give genital herpes through oral sex.
  • HPV, Human Papilloma Virus (genital warts) is the most common STD in the U.S. and more than 5 million people are infected with HPV each year!
  • Most people are walking around with an STD and do not even know it. Many do not have symptoms or know enough about STD's to know what symptoms they might have.
  • Since the HIV epidemic began, worldwide an estimated 21.8 million people have died of AIDS (17.5 million adults and 4.3 million children under 15).
